President's Welcome Letter

Céad Míle Fáilte!

It is my pleasure to welcome you, your family and your friends to Chicago Gaelic Park’s 31st Irish Fest. Our directors, volunteers and staff are proud to have been able to bring the best of Irish entertainment and culture to Chicagoland for so many years. We will once again be featuring a wide variety of Irish music and theatre on our indoor and outdoor stages, and we look forward to sharing that entertainment with tens of thousands from the Chicago area and beyond. We also cater to the young and the young at heart with unlimited carnival rides, magicians, clowns, ponies and a petting zoo included in our low admission price.

Our Irish music offerings include well-known traditional artists, dance music, rebel and ballad singers, trad rock (jig punk?), and Emmet Cahill, one of the lead singers of Celtic Thunder. Our rock’n’roll line-up on Friday is a sure bet for fun, and rock and country music will also be featured on other days. The theatre stage has a variety of offerings throughout the weekend.

I’d also like to welcome the hundreds of Irish dancers who will be competing at the Chicago Feis during the Festival, and the U.S National Collegiate Hurling Championship, which will be held during the festival. We are very excited to have college teams from across the country visiting to vie for the national title. Best of luck to all competitors.

I hope that you’ll join us. You’ll be glad that you did.

Sláinte!

Bill O’Sullivan
