Crosskeys Dancers

Cross Keys School of Irish Dance

Established in 1982, Cross Keys School of Irish Dance has an enrollment of over 100 students ranging in age from 4 to 17. The school is under the direction of Kathleen O'Carroll A.D.C.R.G. Kathleen, whose parents are from Ireland, was born and raised in Chicago and has been dancing since she was five years old. She competed in the World Championships in Ireland in 1976. Since the beginning of the school, Cross Keys has seen their numbers grow as well as their level of competition and accalades. Cross Keys has consistently had success at all the major competitions, Oireachtas winners, Top 10 at the Nationals, and World Medal holders. The teams of Cross Keys have also had success at the major competitions, including placing Top 10 at the World".

Instructors

Former Cross Keys dancers, at the championship level, return as instructors and maintain Cross Keys commitment to a low teacher/pupil ratio. These former dancers have competed and placed at the Nationals, All-Ireland"s and World competitions, which gives our current dancers years of experience in a winning tradition.

Philosophy

The school believes that every dancer is an important individual. We believe that Irish Step Dancing is a marvelous medium for the transference of all that is noble and good in Irish culture. The children learn self confidence in being able to master their particular dance and perform for others. They enjoy the camaraderie of their friends and learn to develop those qualities needed for successful teamwork.
